The Escola Europea – Intermodal Transport is a leading European training centre dedicated to sustainable logistics and intermodal transport. Its mission is to promote intermodality as a key driver for more efficient and sustainable supply chains. It offers specialised training programmes in intermodal logistics, Short Sea Shipping and Motorways of the Sea, aimed at both professionals and students in logistics, transport and international trade.

GNV is one of the founding partners of the Escola, created through the collaboration of the ports of Barcelona, Rome and Genoa, joined by Palermo in 2023, together with Grimaldi Lines.

One of its most distinctive features is its experiential learning approach. Many courses take place on board GNV ferries operating Short Sea Shipping routes connecting Barcelona and Genoa with Palermo, as well as with Tanger Med in Morocco and Rades in Tunisia. These programmes, lasting three to four days, combine lectures and workshops with real voyage experience, offering first-hand insight into logistics operations.

The Escola’s methodology is based on a phygital approach, combining physical, on-site experiences with digital tools and simulations. A key element of this model is the Port Virtual Lab (PVL), an innovative platform that enables participants to simulate logistics chains, analyse transport routes and better understand decision-making processes within port and intermodal environments.

Through this approach, the Escola contributes to the development of the next generation of logistics professionals.
