Check in online and get ready for departure

From 12 October 2026, you can check in online before departure, directly through your GNV personal account.

It’s quick and easy: have the necessary documents ready, enter the required details and complete the process before arriving at the port.

How does it work?

You can check in online in just a few simple steps:

1. Log in to your personal account.
2. Go to the online check-in section.
3. Enter the required details.
4. Carefully review all the information.
5. Complete and confirm your check-in.

You can also access the service using your booking number and the email address used to purchase your ticket.

What do you need to check in?

Before you begin, make sure you have valid identity documents for all passengers included in the booking ready.

If you are travelling with a vehicle, also have your vehicle registration document ready: you will be asked to provide details such as the registration number, make and model during the process.

Travelling with others? You can check in for everyone

If your booking includes several passengers, you can also complete check-in for the people travelling with you.

Simply have their documents ready and enter the required details during the process.

What happens after check-in?

Once you have completed the process, the next steps depend on your travel route.

Travelling to Sicily, Sardinia or the Balearic Islands?

In this case, after completing online check-in, you will receive your boarding pass by email no later than 4 hours before departure.

Keep it safe and remember to bring it with you, along with the necessary travel documents, when you arrive at the port.

Travelling on another route?

Online check-in also allows you to submit and validate passenger and vehicle details in advance, making the procedures to be completed at the port quicker and easier.

However, your boarding pass will not be issued online: you will need to go to the ticket office to collect it and complete any required document and customs checks before boarding.

Check your details carefully before confirming

Before completing check-in, take a moment to make sure that all the information you have entered is correct and complete.

This is important because, once you have confirmed check-in, you will no longer be able to change your details yourself online.

If you need to correct or change any details after check-in, you can contact GNV customer service or your travel agency.

What if you don’t check in online?

Online check-in is designed to let you complete some of the procedures in advance and arrive ready for departure.

If you choose not to check in online, you will need to complete the process at the port ticket office before departure. In this case, any applicable fees set by GNV may be charged.

Please also remember that online check-in does not replace the requirement to arrive at the port within the specified time limits. Even after completing online check-in, you must bring the necessary documents with you and may be subject to any document, security, border or customs checks required by the Company or the relevant Authorities.

Lost your boarding pass?

Don’t worry. If you received your boarding pass online but have lost or deleted it, you can contact GNV or your travel agency to request a copy.

Alternatively, you can go to the port with your ticket and ask for your boarding pass to be reissued.
