Resident rate

GNV grants an additional discount to residents and/or natives of Sardinia or Sicily.

Who is eligible?

  • Residents and/or natives of Sicily or Sardinia;
  • vehicles traveling with them (even if owned by a non-resident);
  • family members included in the household registry (even if traveling without the resident/native person of Sicily or Sardinia, provided that the ticket is accompanied by the household registry or self-certification)

How to request the resident fare?

To apply the fare, it is necessary to declare at the time of booking that the ticket holder and all passengers traveling with them are entitled to request the resident and/or native fare (e.g. the ticket holder was born and/or resides in Sicily or Sardinia; the spouse and children traveling with the ticket holder are entitled to the resident and native fare).

It is possible to request the discount at the Contact Center, at a GNV port ticket office or a Travel Agency, or on the GNV website via the dedicated flag during the booking process.

Boarding:

  • At boarding, documentation proving eligibility for the resident and/or native fare will be checked: it is sufficient to show the ticket holder’s identity document proving they are a native and/or resident of Sicily or Sardinia, and proving a family relationship with the other ticket passengers (e.g., children; spouse, etc.);
  • If family members travel without the resident/native person, it is sufficient to attach the household registry or a self-certification (download here).

Exclusions

  • If only the children are residents, the resident and/or native fare does not extend to the parents.
  • On some departures, it is not possible to apply the resident and/or native fare.
  • If only one passenger is entitled to the resident or native fare, separate bookings will be required.

If, at the time of boarding, the documentation proving the above requirements is missing, boarding with tickets issued at the resident or native fare will not be possible: a new ticket at the full fare must be purchased instead. Tickets issued at the resident fare will not be refunded.

On the lines to and from Morocco, for tickets issued from 18/06/21 to 31/07/21 for all trips until 15/09, the special discounted fare "ÉTÉ fi BLEDI" will be active, with the following cancellation penalties: from the time of booking until 20 days before departure 25%; from 19 days to 4 days before departure 30%; from 3 days to 2 hours before departure 50%.
